Meet Our Coaches

I grew up in Western Pennsylvania , an epicenter for girls basketball. I lived and breathed basketball.  I was a dual athlete (basketball and track) . I went on to play at Mansfield University of Pennsylvania (NCAA DII) where I played basketball all 4 years and ran for the Track and Field team . I have coached High School Varsity Basketball from 1998-2015 at the 1A; 5A; and 6A levels. I was a summer camp basketball coach at the University of Tennessee, University of Connecticut, and Stanford University. I shifted my focus to coaching my own children and then began coaching club basketball for Boise Slam in 2013. I became a co-owner of Boise Slam in 2020. I have 28 years experience of coaching and educating kids.  Helping kids learn is my passion.

I was born and raised in Blanding, Utah where I attended San Juan High School.  I was a 3-sport athlete in volleyball, basketball, and track.  I was a 4-year varsity basketball and volleyball player.  I furthered my basketball career after high school at Snow College for 2 years and then received a scholarship to play Division I at Southern Utah University in Cedar City Utah to end my college career.  My coaching career started right after I graduated.  I coached a year at both Parowan High School and Canyon View High School as a Freshman coach.  Following Canyon View, I coached a year at Snow College and then a year at Southern Utah University.  While coaching at SUU I met my husband Justin Osterhout and moved to Meridian Idaho.  I continued my coaching career at Kuna High School for 12 years, being the Varsity coach my last 3 years.  When Rocky Mountain opened, I took the Freshman coaching position for a year and then moved up to the JV coach  and then Varsity assistant.  While being involved with coaching high school basketball I started coaching for Slam and have been coaching there since 2012.  I became a co-owner in 2020.

Michelle (Hessing) Takagi was a standout player for the Boise State Broncos where she earned several accolades. After college, Michelle went on to teach fundamental skills of basketball at the Hoop dreams post academy the summer of 2004, 2005 and 2006 and was a camp coach at Boise State University for children ages 5-14 the summer of 2004, 2005 and 2006. Hessing-Takagi’s collegiate coaching experience includes serving as an assistant at the College of Idaho for 3 consecutive seasons. While at the College of Idaho, she helped guide the Coyotes through impressive seasons. Some of the program’s accomplishments included winning the Cascade Collegiate Conference regular season twice and advancing to the NAIA National Tournament twice. Her duties at the College of Idaho included film exchange, on-court coaching, scouting reports, organizing team volunteer opportunities, planning post player development, and assisting with the day-to-day operations of the program. 

Keri grew up in Rexburg, Idaho and can’t remember a time when basketball wasn’t a part of her life. She played through high school and has continued to play ever since. She began coaching when her oldest daughter started playing Y Ball in kindergarten and has been coaching ever since. She has been coaching at Slam for nine years . 

Madison Hutchinson played basketball at Bishop Kelly High School from 2019–2023, where she earned All-Conference honors before continuing her playing career at the College of Idaho, where she has competed since 2023. In addition to playing at the collegiate level, Madison works numerous summer camps for Bishop Kelly as well as Colby Blaine Basketball Camps at the College of Idaho, helping young athletes develop their skills and confidence. She is majoring in Elementary Education and is expected to graduate from the College of Idaho in May 2027. Madison is passionate about the game of basketball and loves coaching and teaching kids, striving to make a positive impact both on and off the court.

Brady Reed is a graduate of Weiser High School, where she competed in both basketball and softball from 2019–2023. She currently serves as the Freshman Girls Basketball Coach at Bishop Kelly High School while pursuing a degree in Physical Education at Boise State University, where she is expected to graduate in May 2027. Brady is passionate about helping young athletes grow both on and off the court, using her experience as a student-athlete to teach the fundamentals of the game while building confidence, teamwork, and a love for basketball.
